A Variety Of Gemstones In The Crystal Quartz Family

Meet the crystal quartz family

There are basically two classifications of gemstones within the crystal quartz family. Transparent gems are made up of large crystal formations called macrocrystalline crystals. In their natural form the crystal formations can easily be seen with the eye. This quartz category includes gemstones like clear crystal quartz, rose quartz, smoky quartz, and even amethyst and citrine.

This picture shows a gem with natural amethyst quartz macrocrystaline structure. It is accented with faceted and clear amethyst. Both are part of the quartz family.

The second classification of quartz is the more translucent or opaque stones. They are made a very tiny crystals called microcrystalline crystals. They can only be seen through a microscope. These more dense stones include chalcedony, carnelian, chrysoprase, dendrite, agate, onyx, and tigers eye.

Both classes of gems in the crystal courts family have very strong ‘genes’ in common. They range in hardness from 7 to 10 on the Mohs scale. Our ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ pendant is accented with citrine, which is part of the quartz family.

Mother Nature’s Gifts

People have been drawn to crystals as glittering adornments or meaningful talisman since ancient times. Today crystals have become so popular that we see varieties of crystals and almost every shop across the country. For some, they serve as beautiful decor or jewelry that creates a natural and unique aesthetic impression. For others, they work as nature‘s mystical ornaments that emit positive energy to encourage a nurturing and holistic lifestyle.

Mother nature nourishes us with a plethora of goodness from her earth; water, metals, minerals, oil, plants, and crystals. These are her precious gifts that provide the basic components for our industry, our agriculture, and are very life. Metaphysically, since crystals are very connected with nature’s essence, the positive energy and vibrations they radiate also act to benefit us on a subtle level for our overwhelm overall well-being.
